crystal rhinestone design

Take a simple design, from an outline created by a stencil or from a coloring page, it's easy to create a beautiful rhinestone pattern.
Here we're making a "fish" design. The drawing has been cut out then fixed in place with pins (or a temporary adhesive in spray form) onto a beige canvas bag.

We now have to place rhinestones at regular intervals on the bag, always keeping a distance of 1 or 2mm from the edge of the outline of the design in paper. Materials
  • A beige cotton canvas bag
  • 33 Swarovski SS12 Light rose rhinestones (3mm)
  • 50 Swarovski SS12 Aquamarine (3mm) rhinestones
  • 1 Swarovski SS34 Capri Blue (7mm) rhinestone
  • 9 Swarovski SS5 Capri blue rhinestones
  • Glue for crystal rhinestones, if the rhinestones cannot be glued on by applying heat (hotfix)
The rhinestones are glued:
  • either one by one, using special rhinestone glue
  • or using an iron if you're using hotfix rhinestones. In this case, be careful to place a piece of cottton fabric gently over all the rhinestones beforehand
  • or (for hotfix rhinestones) using a electric rhinestone applicator tool which enables you to glue on the rhinestones, one by one
It's clear that only the ''one rhinestone after another'' methods of glueing rhinestones will give perfect results.

The fish's eye is added next and surrounded by little rhinestones for an elegant finish to this design.
